Pre-Season Friendlies Get the U13's on track!
Friday 8th September.
After a lot of hard work on the training pitch in pre-season, our U13's got two friendly matches under their belts this week to blow away the cobwebs and get back to playing. Facing local friends Evergreen Youth FC, players from both teams worked hard in the evening heat.
The first game on Tuesday was a very well contested affair, with chances created by both teams. our girls were unlucky not to convert any chances, being denied twice by the woodwork and with one cleared off the line from excellent defending. However, our defence also held firm and the teams played out a 0-0 draw.
Line Up : Ella, Ava L, Megan, Arabella, Olivia, Issy, Daisy, Roma & Gracie
Subs : Leira & Lilly
The second fixture last night was another excellent contest between both teams, but all the hard work on fitness and technical skills saw our young ladies end the match victorious and ready to start the new season. Two great strikes from Gracie put us ahead, with Evergreen pulling one back to keep the game close. But two more excellent finishes from Issy and Leira saw LGDA come away with a 4-1 win that will give the girls a huge confidence boost. Coaches Jody & Juan commented "The girls performed really well. It was a slow start but we got better and better as the game went on. We were dangerous and really attacked the opposition in the second half. It was a testament to the fitness work that we do. Our players still looked strong at the end, despite the conditions. We still rotated the positions for most of the players and they never look out of place. The whole squad looks settled and ready for the season ahead".
