Player's of the Match vs Buntingford Cougars

Daisy.jpeg

"Daisy was one of three players to be voted as Player of the Match on Saturday. Getting in a full 60 minutes of  game time, she never stopped working hard and her link-up play with her fellow forwards and midfielders was so good. Daisy also had the confidence to step up and take a penalty, which she converted with composure. Definitely her best performance for a while and she was also voted by the opposition as their Player of the Match too.

Charlotte.jpeg

"Charlotte received the award for the first time this season. Her development during the season has been really good and her confidence has also been building. Playing up an age group, she worked hard again in the game today in midfield and then as a right-back in the second half. Learning all the time and listening to her team mates and coaches. It was great to see her get the recognition she deserved after consistent performances recently".

Bella.jpeg

"Bella continues to work hard throughout all her matches and is learning so much. She never stops listening to the coaches and taking on their advice. Bella is always willing to try new things and is working hard on her positioning on the pitch and composure on the ball. She never lets anyone down and was full of running again today. Working so hard for the full 60 minutes. Another player worth of the award today, even if she was rather surprised!".

"Is there nothing that this young lady cannot do? Not only is she a great shot-stopper, brave, consistent with great handling, but she has now created LGDA history by being the first goalkeeper to score direct with a dropkick from her own area". So close to preventing a draw in the game as well, it was another high-standard display from Millie.

"Another excellent performance from Aimee today. Starting as a striker for the first time, she put in so much hard work to move forwards with the ball and also to track back to win it as well. Unfortunate not to score in the first half but claimed an assist with a perfect lay-off for Bella. Then moving into defence in the second half, it was a complete performance from this young lady.".

"Sometimes the hard work by individuals can be overlooked in a good team performance, but Amelie was everywhere today. Recovery runs to defend, assisting in attack, linking up play with her passing and supporting her team mates throughout. She deserved to be on the winning team today and great to see her receive the recognition from the parents and her team mates.".

They are learning all the time and Anika, Laila and Taya (along with Aimee) are forming a great understanding in the back line. Such a talented group of players that are going to get better and better. The compliments from the League Leaders spoke volumes".

"It was another excellent display from Millie in the game. Not just her bravery at players feet, or her excellent point-blank reaction saves, but also her determination to improve, her positivity and also her kicking and distribution which just continues to get better. She didn't deserve to be on the losing side today, but she won't let it get her down. Millie certainly has a fantastic future ahead".

Taya was excellent today. Strong in the tackle, calm on the ball and rarely troubled. She's got a great future ahead and helped her team onto another win and a League double over our opponents".

"Daisy seems to have a habit of scoring goals against Ware. Making her return after recovery from illness, she was back in the side and off to a flyer with two goals in the first half. Unlucky not to complete her hat-trick, we have no doubt that Daisy's confidence and desire will continue to grow. She is an amazing striker with great ability on the ball. She constantly wants to improve and better herself and is so passionate about the game. It was great to have 'our Daisy' back on the pitch with that great smile. Long may it continue with more goals along the way".

"Another excellent performance in goal from Millie in this game. Unfortunate to be on the losing side, she could do nothing about the two goals scored and the clean sheet in the first half was testament to her hard work and yet another outstanding save. Working hard at the club and also with GK Icon, this was another well deserved accolade and that smile never disappears off the pitch ".

"Now in her 4th season with the club, Amelie is growing and maturing as a player. She's hard working, always wanting to learn and is becoming one of the most composed and accurate passers of the ball. Proven in this game with not only her link-up play with Mills, but also her vision and  excellent defence splitting pass to setup our goal. Another player who constantly listens to the coaches, Amelie shows leadership in her personality, determination and attitude. A vital cog in this team that gets better and stronger with each game".

"Millie is fast becoming one of the best young goalkeepers that we have worked with at the club. Determined, brave, strong and agile. She has a wonderful personality and shows the desire at every single training session to learn and improve. She communicates and dominates her goal area and has fantastic handling. Plus the ability to make brilliant saves that have the opposition applauding and praising her, as well as us. At the rate she is improving, Millie will be a top gaolkeeper in the future and we are delighted to be helping on her promising  journey ahead ".

"Aimee's progress and development as a player since the start of the season has been fantastic. Not only her abilities on the pitch, but also her confidence and personality. She is a hugely popular member of the squad. This is purely down to her own hard work at training and the perfect attitude she possess in listening to the coaches and trying something new and wanting to improve. Aimee is an absolute asset to this squad and will be a formidable player in the years to come. We are really proud of her progress in the first 5 months of playing football. ".

Player's of the Match vs Whetstone Wildcats

IMG_6176.jpg

Congratulations to "Wallo" and Anika for being voted as Player's of the Match in our third game of the season, away to Whetstone Wildcats on Saturday 23rd September.

As Captain of the side for the season, Anika was leading from the defence and communicating throughout the game. Carrying on where she had left off last season with her strong tackling and excellent clearances.

"Wallo" put in a really strong performance in attack, linking up well with her team mates and creating chances along the way. Unlucky not to have got on the scoresheet and excellent hold-up play, she is on her way back to fitness and playing with freedom and confidence again.

Many thanks to our U12 kit sponsors for the season, JD Signs & Graphics Ltd and Grow Therapeutic Coaching.

Player of the Match vs Goffs Oak

After yet another excellent performance in the U12 first home match of the season on the 16th September, this young lady was voted as the Parents Player of the Match.

A string of fine saves and a brave display was justification for the accolade, as well as an outstanding save that was heading for the top corner until Millie stuck out a hand and tipped it around the post. Millie is destined to be an excellent goalkeeper. Not only is she determined to work hard and improve at LGDA, but she is also under the guidance and support of Joel Canning at GK Icon. A bright future indeed and we are so proud to be helping her on her journey and to have Millie as our U12 #1.

Whilst the result may not have gone our way in the opening game of the season against Broxbourne (9th September), it was a day to remember for these young ladies, as they were voted as the Parents Player of the Match. For Laila, it was recognition for her determination and energy throughout the game on a very hot day, and makning her debut in the process. And for Autumn, it was for an excellent performance in defence. Working hard to break down attacks and making fantastic recovery runs. There is so much more to come from these two players this season. congratulations to them both.

Four Depart & Five Arrive. As the U12's strengthen for the season.
13/09/23

The transfer activity in the U12's during the summer has been the busiest that the club has known for one team. Where we are normally extremely proud of the player retention at the club, there were four players moving on to pastures new.

Despite those departures, the squad has been boosted and strengthened by the arrival of five new players, of which four will be regular matchday squad members. Defenders Aimee and Charlotte joined the club after training with us during July, and we were quick to secure the signing of exciting attacking prospect, Laila.

Having trained with the squad during the second half of the season we were delighted to confirm the signing of Eliana on a training only basis and then finalised a 'deadline day' registration for Isabella last week.

With the continued development progress made by both Autumn and Maya since they joined the club last season as youth trainees, this has put the squad on a sound footing and strengthened  not only in the size of the squad, but also in the quality and ability of the players and their positions.

Still plenty of learning and development in the squad, but these are exciting times indeed.
